LISN

LISN (Low-Latitude Ionospheric Sensor Network) is a multi-instrumental, multi-institutional project in which a network of geophysical instruments (GPS receivers, ionosondes, and magnetometers) for the study of the electrodynamics of the ionosphere, with an emphasis on dynamic and photochemical energy transport processes; as well as developing the ability to predict the start of dispersed F and measurement of plasma densities, derived from neutral ions and winds in a wide geographical area.
The instrument network is installed in different cities in South America: Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, Brazil, and Argentina. The data acquired with LISN instruments is continuously sent to a server at IGP central office, where it is processed, published, and distributed to the international scientific community.
