SIMONe (Spread Spectrum Interferometric Multistatic Meteor Radar Observing Network) is a multi-static radar of specular meteor that allows the measurement of winds in the MLT region, which is between 70 and 110 km altitude. This dynamic is important because the MLT region is the area that connects the low and medium atmosphere with the geospace and it has an impact on the other layers of the atmosphere.
The radar has a transmission station located on the Jicamarca Radio Observatory and 5 reception stations located in Azpitia, Huancayo, Chaclacayo, Santa Rosa de Quives and Ancón. It is planned to expand the network of receivers and other SIMONe radars to be able to measure winds in different regions of Peru.
