Astrophysics - Area CIELO – ROJ
One of the things that has always fascinated me the ROJ is to see directly the work that the pioneers of knowledge allow development in the world of science.
I remember in the early seventies, talks with Quirico Sibille, at that time Jicamarca worker when we were just freshmen at the University Mayor de San Marcos,he told me the great experience of working with the creators of this wonderful antenna. Still in my ears I have the harmonious sound of sparklers, when the antenna emits its powerful light pulse to the atmosphere.
I think life Radio Observatory is full of challenges to achieve ever-faster systems to harness the full potential that has the radar to scan the layers of our sky Lima, which in the eyes of giant has a variety of effects most of us know of their existence.

Chief of I&D+I – ROJ
I Entered to Jicamarca around December in 1998, at that time the interviews were done in Camacho and I remember I interviewed Dr. Sarango. During the first months (and 6 years) I was involved in a project, currently running continuously but with another responsible engineer. At the end of the first two years I graduated in a subject unrelated to the ROJ. In 2003 with other companions of the ROJ we went to a school Atmospheric Radars which helped me better understand what takes place in the ROJ. With the support of ROJ have been able to attend other training courses and one month ago I've been in a research center at MIT. During the last two years my work was more managerial and wonder that made it a little (not much) electronics. With the return of Marco (made his doctorate) are starting to work on the two questions of Dr. Chau: What are you doing? And if you are doing something they should not do? (or something).
In Jicamarca thanks to Dr. Chau incentive now I am an intermediate runner, treatment to run at least 2 powers of 21 km and 3 of 10 km during the year. At the beginning played football, but I think that sport is not for me, plus my ongoing saving to buy new Chimpunes.
I do not know what the future will bring, but during this time in Jicamarca I have learned enough and hope in the years that I should have left in Jicamarca to give my sand granite for the strengthening and improvement of Jicamarca.

Talking Jicamarca Radio Observatory (ROJ) is to remember one of the happiest parts of my life, there I was given the opportunity to apply what they learn, know and learn new technologies with the support of experienced workers assimilate and cope with group work entrusted challenges that strengthened my technical knowledge. Sharing moments of recreation (football, which practiced) were also strictly labor twinning links.
Today with homesickness and gratitude to ROJ I can say that with everything I learned in the ROJ could strengthen my work activities. Remembering Otto, Fernando, Lucho, Paco, Victor and many friends is to remember the moments of work and fun that go into that good stage of my life.

Just 5 years ago I learned about the existence of the Jicamarca radio observatory. I could enthuse people DLR (German Space Agency) to visit Peru and Peruvian institutions contact who do science, including the IGP. The meeting that took place before the visit to Jicamarca at the headquarters of the IGP showed DLR delegation that scientific and professional level staff IGP was surprisingly high. Mr. Turner, director of the DLR sounding rocket, told me that was very interested in visiting, and was surprised of Jicamarca infrastructure of the observatory.
For my part I am also very surprised at the efficiency and professionalism of the workers in Jicamarca, being limited funds, it has been possible to investigate and pioneers in their field studies. Not only because it is the world's largest observatory in its class, but also as a center of art where every day is done high-level research, is the pride of Peru.
On the 50th anniversary of ROJ I can greet all first-class scientists, who continue to demonstrate that in Peru you can do science, and that it will stay the progress we all want.

Jicamarca IN THE HEART
Login to work at the Jicamarca Radio Observatory every expectation implied by scientific work, totally unknown to me then, in 1989, but I had no doubt much concern for the post of Secretary of Dr. Woodman, Director of the center research so far from Lima. Jicamarca, barren place, but important as an oasis where life revolves around the antennas, data, computers, measurement, foreign visitors, reading and interpretation of data. But it gives Jicamarca and gave life the people, workers and students who learned and developed back and forth, putting hot to cold data center and joy to harsh environments and dusty. Many have already retired, I did it in 1993 to resume my studies at university, others have entered, and work-life amical encouraging everyone must continue to ensure that science is best seen in our country. The buddy list is long, I know we all will always remember because there were many shared experiences, but I mention the most charming and whom I pay tribute: Miss Dianita Mr. Zegarra, Mr. Calderon, Mr. Galvan, Fernando and Julio my happy friends, and my dear friends Lucy, Rosita, Carmen and Teodolinda with whom I still sit and drink a coffee or a drink more spirit, and we continue telling our lives, laughing, recalling the ROJ and, above all, maintaining this homing instinct that emerged at Jicamarca, that's why it stays in my heart. Greetings to all who continue to congratulate their contribution.

I graduated in 2004 from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru in Electronic Engineering. I worked at the Jicamarca Radio Observatory since late 2002 through 2007, the year in which I came to Australia to do a master's degree at the University of Queensland, Australia. Currently working on Tomc Technologies, a company dedicated to the design and construction of power transmission used in various applications such as NMR, Radar and particle accelerators. My time in ROJ be defined as the stage that defined my career. I remember I started as an intern, a year before completing my undergraduate studies. My first desk was a table in the library, where I spent the first three weeks reading various books on radar, high frequency circuits and signal processing. Experience something hard, yet rewarding because it allowed me to really understands what they did there, and how he could contribute. Thus, with the advice of Dr. Jorge Chau, Fernando Villanueva, Darwin and Otto Castillo Córdova during the following years I was involved, little by little, with projects becoming more complex and varied as the design of an LNA using parameters scattering or modifying an MST to 30MHz transmitter. This allowed me to see in action the principles of electromagnetism, and the development of new capabilities, such as project management and presentation and teamwork.
Championships in football and ping-pong, meetings for Christmas holidays and experiences that are hard to forget it allowed me to set my bonds of friendship and cooperation with all, and realize the great family to which I belong.
